Liverpool my Cultural and Creative melting pot

It is a well established fact amongst Liverpool people, that so many of us when we leave the City of our Birth, become even more enthusiastic about our "Scouse" roots. I was always aware of this syndrome, and was convinced that I would not be guilty of ever falling into this cliched behaviour when I left the City of my youth. However as I have progressed into middle age, I am becoming more increasingly grateful for the City that formed me, both culturally and creatively. I have found it hard to return, as I suppose I associated the place with a few unhappy memories. As time has progressed only the good memories have remained, and my fondness has returned. I suppose this could be said of any geographical movement we make in our lives. However, I have never lost that deep rooted feeling of how fortunate I was to grow up in Liverpool. This opinion may be despised, by those that are of a certain political persuasion, who have made it their quest to belittle and demean this great cosmopolitan city and it's inhabitants. This was highlighted only recently as a surgeon friend recounted how he refused to attend a medical conference, as it was being held in Liverpool. I was filled with disbelief that such a man of learning, should be so prejudiced and narrow minded in his outlook. That was the moment that ignited my fire and my sense of injustice. I also wondered what part the media had played in presenting Liverpool in a negative light over the years. In the following pages. I would like to share my heart-felt thoughts and take you on a journey through my Liverpool memories. The link below shares the  memories of the wonderful architecture that is my home town.
